Disciples Youth Ministry

Play it Forward for Kamp Kaleo

Camping Season, Christmas, birthdays, local ministry opportunities…  What do these events have in common?  Each offers the opportunity to help youth grow in Christian faith because each event is a wonderful time to sponsor a camper at Kaleo.  From Little Kritters camp, through Senior High and Faith and Fine Arts, campers are exposed to learning about Christ in their own lives and sharing faith with others.

How about sponsoring your child or grandchild, or someone you may not even know, to attend a Kaleo camp in 2017!  One church, East Lincoln Christian Church, has limited youth who attend camp, but in 2016 they conducted their Annual Baked Potato Feed and Dessert Auction and raised enough money to sponsor their own youth. AND “adopt” 8 campers from Havelock Christian Church.  How about making Christmas, birthday or a special event the time to underwrite a camper for 2017.  Just go to www.kampkaleo.com and click the “donate” button. Write “sponsor a camper” in the  Special Instructions line, including the name if you have a specific person to sponsor.

WHAT: DHM is partnering with DYMN (Disciples Youth Ministry Network) to call together voices from regions and constituencies in a Youth Ministry Summit to re-vision / update / re-design the Design for Youth Ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada.

WHY: The Design for Youth Ministry was first approved by the General Assembly meeting in Anaheim in 1981. It was reviewed and updated by the General Youth Council and approved by the DHM Board in 1996. Much has changed in the twenty years since the last update. The Design is long overdue for review and update!
